Looks like I’m getting recovery T6 is dead

Ahh that could be the problem then. I was debating buying that Carista as there’s a good deal on it at the minute can stuff like that be done using carista do you know?

Having trouble with the block maps it’s doing everything but save the two files

A short version: you could tick the following

under
VCDS > Select > Engine > Adv. Meas. Values

click Save to log them into a log file

both (1) engine off (ignition on) and (2) engine running

These values would give some indication about how turbo actuator performs (fault P00AF).

I'm off work tomorrow so if the snow holds off I'll be having a good look at it I'll definitely get those logs downloaded and fire them over though.

Turbo has gone had my fingers in it’s collapsed.

The soot on the other side of the engine still needs investigating.

Have pulled the air box off inspected pipes back to the turbo think they look fine with the exception of where the breather from cam cover joins the outside of it is gagged with thick oil but is fine on the inside seems clean inside the pipe so guessing that’s probably just excessive oil from when oil has been spilled on topping up.

Had the charge cooler off that seems fine has a very small amount of ooily residue in there but think that’s about normal.

Had pipes off down to the top of the turbo all seem fine

Had pipes off down to the top of the intake they seem dirty but not as bad as some I’ve seen.

Front egr pipe been off seems totally fine.

The rear egr pipe is fine was updated a couple of year ago for the improved version.

I’m running out of time for today but that’s where we are at up till now.

Merry Christmas from the trusty t6

It looks like we have one possibly two leaky injector seals 1 and 2 have a little pool of oil at their seat.

The last breakdown we had was a random fault that came up fuel pressure sensor implausible signal and the lambada the same it started drinking fuel after that I’m guessing these are all linked now.

Exactly these.
I think the data confirms that the actuator doesn't move as desired. Besides the actuator itself, of course it could be also the solenoid valve failing or vacuum leak.

On idle I would expect to see specified to be very close to actual value.
Also a bit strange is the RPM, would have expected to see 830 RPM, or sometimes the elevated 970 RPM.

Engine stopped the specified typically is 0% and the actual around 20...25% (for single turbo) so perhaps not too far off.

I think the second sample engine stopped was a bit "corrupted" as it was recorded just seconds after engine was still running thus engine was still in middle of it's shutdown process.

Clever stuff! I fingered the inlet side of the turbo and the turbine was loose it sounds like a bag of sockets. I'm registering the van as Sorn tomorrow I'll finish stripping it down when I'm off next week then make a list of the repairs needed. I need to address the injectors while they are exposed.
