Low power going uphill

Don’t take any chances when you are a long distance from UK . Get the local VW service centre to run diagnostics. Worst case have you got European breakdown cover? Hope you get sorted
No, I won’t take any chances, and yes I have got Euro Cover with AA, I’ll see what the garage says first.

Look through the lower bumper grill and you'll see the cooler , if they split they normally bulge on the lower edge to create a 'smile'.
Heres mine when it died -

Right, well, I’ve just looked under the bonnet, nothing seems to be leaking, loose or split pipe etc, so it’ll be down to a VW Mechanic to suck his cheeks in and say “Oh well let’s have a look then” hopefully on Monday and nothing too costly! So a couple of sleepless nights now. Thank you all for your help

Hi all, well the latest is, the garage have run diagnostics and no errors came up, so they need it for half a day or longer possibly to check it out. They also agree that it’s not running right. So worried now.

Standard reply, if they can’t fix it through analysing fault codes they’ll have to have a guess at something else. Keep on to them as the ‘half a day or longer’ isn’t a good enough estimate IMO.
Make sure you don’t end up with a long invoice of new parts that had nothing to do with the fault.

Hi, I don’t know if you’ve seen the previous posts, but I’m Switzerland and just can’t be too arsey or they could tell to just do one? ☹️

It depends on what they are using to do the diagnosis, is it a VW garage (franchise or independent)?

There are faults that might be logged as unconfirmed that are not yet full fault codes that not all systems will try and recover.

Also if the issue is a physical restriction on performance it might not be "unusual" in terms of the engine behaviour as seen by the electronics.

Can you think of anything that happened around the time it started even if it seems unrelated?

Was it a sudden change or a gradual "this isn't right"?

Just a gradual “this isn’t quite right, especially uphill, it was really struggling.
It’s AMAG in Buchs, I think it’s probably a franchise, all very posh and clean.
Anyhow the latest is that it’s coming up with a problem on the glow plugs (all four, is there 4) apparently, it’s a bit difficult due to language barrier etc to understand everything but the mechanic said he’s reset it all and it’s had a software update, he’s taken it for a run and it seems ok. No charge, they’ll just send it VW. Mechanic said if it happens again, just switch it off, wait a few minutes and it should be ok and he said to enjoy the rest of my holidays.

Do you have mats/carpets? Sounds really stupid but has it slipped under the throttle pedal and stopping you getting full travel? Haven’t ready every post so sorry if things have moved beyond the basics! Good luck.
