Had some help today..

Floor all screwed down and secure.. Feels nice and solid.. Bit of a ridge between the front and back section that I will have to sand down.

Time for some more insulation. I used Dodo Thermo fleece as it will not absorb moisture and does not support mould growth.

It sticks well with spray contact adhesive..

Man Vs Van - VW T6 Transporter Camper Build

Wow @kn0bby you're going great guns on your van, great pictorial progress on its transformation. Keep up the good work, it's certainly going to be nice and quiet in the back

Thanks.. I built a kit car in the past and did a similar blog.. Fancied doing it again as it was great to refer back to.

I might have gone overboard with the sound proofing!

Very Instructive, keep up the good work.

Thanks..

Really good thread

Thanks.

@kn0bby thanks for trying. Most pics on here I can click and get a full screen version. Yours seem to be fixed. But don't ask me why :/ .
Its a good tread for me as hopefully there will be a T6 on my drive tomorrow night.
Never had a van before and Im a bit apprehensive that I've made the right decision. (Taking a massive hit trading in my car).

You sound a bit like me.. I sold this to buy a van.. Not regretting it yet.. ;)

Oooh been a few days since new bits turned up...

Ordered in initial electrics kit from TravelVolts (T6Forum electrics guru)

To start with ordered the following.. This is just so I can get the battery fitted under the seat and wire a few bits into it.. The rest will come later when my units come.

Leoch Xtreme AGM 110 ah battery
CTEK Dual 250SA
Wiring kit for CTEK Dual
12 way fuse box with a negative rail.
Battery fitting kit

Door seals

Standard issue mod..

Ordered the seals from the T6forum shop.

The drivers door won't close properly.. See if it just needs to settle in.

Reversing Camera - cutting hole..

Ordered a reversing camera from the T6forum shop.. Really like having a reversing camera so it was a must to retro fit.

For some reason I thought it sat next to the number plate like and it went straight it.. I was wrong, you have to cut out a hole.

Instructions from shop:

Cut a 41-42mm square hole to mount the camera in
The video cable runs to the back of the headunit and connects into the blue 12 pin block in the main quadlock plug :
1 Black core = pin 12
2 Clear core = pin 6
Power cable has three cores
Red = +12v positive supply to power camera
Black = -0v negative supply for camera (earth post near bottom of D pillar)
Yellow = +12v switch positive supply to trigger camera (green/black cable in main loom in roof)

Once installed and connected you need VCDS to activate camera (tell van its there)
Module 5F - byte 19 - bit4
Module 10 - byte 10 - bit 5

Masked up the area and covered up the body work with cardboard as I planned to use the Dremel.

I used a bit of masking tape with a 41x42mm holes marked on it, then offered it up to the body. Tried to drill 4 holes in the corners but its impossible to drill holes so close to the body.

IMG_9378.jpg

The dremel was fine on the top half but not the part closest to the body as there wasn't room to get in there.

Had to attack the rest from the other side.

All filed offer and clean ready for painting.

Little coat of hammerite to seal it off.

To be continued..

Brilliant thread, got my first T6 in September, moved away from the fast Audi’s (not quite as fast as the rs6 tho)... we’re moving at the same sort of speed, funds holding me back unfortunately as I am currently back being an apprentice. Got the electrics lined up, so I’ll be following your thread. Happy with the door seals from the forum?? Have my eye on the camera too.. scary to be cutting into the van tho! Ha

Have a glance at my thread too - The Black Kombi.

Thank you.. Took a look at your thread. You have been cracking on. Not looking forward to the running out of money part, its getting close!

Vans in the garage at the moment, if they haven't improved i'll remove and try the travelin lite versions I think.
