@ABusAndBeyond
Guys, I fully get the festive spirit side of what you've done. It put a smile on my face when I watched your video. Sadly its a little more complex than just being 'boring' however.
I think it would be fair to say that especially at this time of year, most cops ease off Construction and Use and Lighting Regs enforcement, as it would be in this case. Less so with Road Traffic Act offences such as drink driving, driving whilst disqualified, no insurance and the like.
If however, and god forbid, someone stoved into your van while it was being driven about lit up in this way, the Police would be regarded as being negligent in their duty, if they didnt report the offences that may have been contributary to a collision.
And then there's the scenario of someone getting booked for something else, 'So why are you letting the van away with it and not me'.
Sometimes as a cop, your dammed if you do and dammed if don't. Equally hated for doing your job, as you are for not. Rock and a hard place.
We all know how insurance companies like to riggle off the hook. However that's a civil thing.
So I don't wish to come across as being scrooge. Like I said, it made me smile. But just be careful for your own sake. Parking up somewhere and turning them on is maybe a safer option than driving about with them on. It's your shout though guys. I just wouldn't want to see you end up in the cack when all your setting out to do is make folk smile.
Merry Christmas to you too.
PS. Remember, Police Officers wear a collective uniform, but they're still individual characters. They may also have different......let's just say.... working circumstances. So you may come across one who's maybe less likely to use their discretion.
