Mileage

Hi I'm thinking of buying a T6 thats 2 years old. It has 47,000 miles on the clock. I was wondering what sort of mileage these vans can do in a life time if serviced regular.
Thanks.

That's a 'how long is a piece of string question'
It depends how its driven, who services it, what it used for etc. I know of Merc Sprinters that are scrapped at 100k because they had faults that were not cost effective to fix, and other Sprinters that have done 400k and still going. My first 2006 Vivaro has now done 300k, and still looks and sounds lovely.

I wouldn't be overly concerned at buying a 47,000 mile T6 if it was looked after in it's previous life. The problem is that most are thrashed, crashed and trashed by drivers that don't give a damn, because it's not their van.

HI Thanks for your response.
The van has mostly motorway mileage and I know its been looked after. So thanks for your help.

I wouldn't say mileage is irrelevant as obviously there is more wear and tear, but I've driven year old hire cars with only a few thousand miles on the clock but drove like a bag of spanners !! As @Tourershine says if it's been looked after I wouldn't worry too much.

Id take a van thats done 47,000 motorway miles over one thats done 27,000 in rush hour traffic. Stopping and starting causes wear in brakes and engine, short journeys whilst cold, poor quality road surfaces increasing wear on suspension parts. DPF more likely to go wrong. Doors opening and closing more causing rattles.

I have seen loads of stats based on MOT data and youd be surprise how much of a good buy a well looked after high mileage car is.
