Minimum requirements for reclassification as camper

Hi just joined the T6 forum , I get my new converted camper van tomorrow. Is there a problem registering from a panel van to a campervan, as the gents converting the van says DVLA are not changing the v5c.

Read this thread:

Bottom line - you can’t anymore.

Just spent 18k having the van changed over , is there any news on when DVLA will start to change details, thanks for replying. If you can’t register does it now not matter.
It don’t make sense, will the insurance be valid.

Read through the linked post above.

It explains the situation.

I’ve read the posts but at this moment in time can you re - register a 6 month old panel van to a all singing motor caravan , Jacks shack in Leicester who are a professional motor home builders says you can not . I’m confused

No you can’t. Nor is there any indication that you will be able to in the future.

You're a bloomin' quick read @Michael Edward Jackson , there's 39 pages of posts there :slow rofl:

Long and short of it: if you don't have a High-Top AND Graphics AND the necessary camper internals, they (probably) won't change the V5C.

39 pages wow I was struggling to find the 1 lol, thanks for the short version.
Jacks shack the guys doing the professional build for me on a vehicle that they sourced . Tomorrow I have to pay the balance , crazy price but hopefully worth it . my VW T6 is a standard vehicle, my mate next door has the same van which was also converted. He had no problem. My motor caravan has a pop up top and everything else needed .what else do you have to do to get the V5c changed. If it is not changed what are the consequences.

Again, short version - you won't get it changed now, they used to in the past (pre June/July 2019) but don't anymore.

Consequence is that you may get dinged on automatic speed cameras for doing legal car / motor caravan speeds, as it will look up DVLA (DVSA?) listing and think you are a van, which has lower speed limits. But as a campervan (motor caravan), you can appeal it and should get it quashed.

Read the thread, it explains it all eventually - in fact best to read it backwards.

I have seen the DVLA tick list of features that must be present for reclassification. I assume this is not a "must have" all of these features.

Currently my van has all internal requirements and windows fitted in sliding door and other side opposite.

BUT is does not have a high top or pop top, or windows all along one side, or awning, or campervan decals.

I am planning to fit an awning, and decals and i suppose i could fit a false window. But MUST i fit that extra window?

What is minimum I can get away with?

You assume incorrectly - you must have all features listed to have a chance of being reclassified.
