I’m sick of damaging wheels/tyres with all the pot holes so I’m wondering if air suspension would give me a better softer ride, currently my van has been lowered I believe on coilovers, I know absolutely nothing about all these mods so can’t tell you exactly, but I’ve read a lot about air failing and constantly being unreliable,is this still the case and if not can anyone point me in the right direction, thxCB7DA0A1-9FA6-46D0-BD7C-085F2D754DEB.jpeg

Check in with Chris at the Van Cave (on this forum). He is very knowledgeable on air and suspension in general. Big wheels and low profile tyres and heavy van, will always be trouble with potholes.

Air suspension may well give you a softer ride but it won't stop damage to wheels / tyres caused by pot holes.

What size tyres are you running? 275/35’s? Lower profiles are more suited to a road car and not on a 3T van, lowered and stiffed up. Don’t get me wrong, people on here have that combination but have to accept the downside. IMHO.
The lower the aspect ratio the more chances of damage.18” rims use 55’s.

Not many on here run 21’s for various reasons.
Unless you reconfigure your speedo then you’ll also be under reading. I assume your wheels / tyres are load rated too?

I’m no suspension expert but as far as I understand it air suspension isn’t soft, it just provides the capability to easily adjust the ride height.
It’s a lump of a vehicle it needs a tyre with a good profile on smaller diameter wheels.

You are correct , fitting air doesn't make it a vehicle more comfortable , we have had 2 clients in recent months who changed to air from our conventional systems and both comments were NOT as comfortable !!
Remember comfort comes from the shock rebound NOT the spring or substituted air bag !!!

Yes all load rated and speedo correct

There are many types of air ride though ........you don't say which system they fitted or what they removed. As with anything cheap will not be as good and market leading.

CRS Performance are in Cannock so not far from you. I suggest you go and have a chat with Steve.
I’m running his H&R/Koni kit with H&R ARB’s and 275/35/20 tyres. It’s an absolute game changer.
