Have a look on here Will They Fit - Online Wheel and Tyre Fitment Calculator

They will obviously be a much bigger circumference,(which may effect your speedo) but if they do fit, they will certainly fill the gaps in the arches, and more importantly, they will look rather tasty.
Thanks, checked it against national motor regulation, and Max speedo error must not exceed +-5%, and with the amarok set up it will be approx -10.91%. Guess i should try find some 16’’.

Filled arches = worse off road. Not useful for Sofa’s requirements.

My Outback has huge gaps under the arches; guess what? It’s great off road. But it also handles very well on it.

Keep the gaps or even increase them.

Just a thought.. I wonder how noisey those chunky tyres will be on a motorway!

I’m running 2.75/40/ZR20 106 W XL road tyres.
They can be noisier than standard on certain types of road surface so I can imagine that tyres with chunky tread patterns would be even more so.

With all the lowering and raising, changing wheel/tyre dimensions, and the possible impact on the speedo, is it possible to re calibrate the speedo itself to keep everyone and law happy?

750£ for the amarok wheels are that OK you reckon? Used only a couple 1000 miles
That's about right for wheels and tyres. If you wanted 18" Amarok steels you can get the rims for about £380 but then you have the tyres to purchase so would be around the same price.
How do your alloys cope with your climate ? As vw alloys arnt the best quality rim.

It’s all about maintenance. Im cleaning wheels every week and have been known to wax my wheels regulary...

Salt is the enemy no.1. Where I live the main roads are constantly salted :(

It is possible to recalibrate it but not sure VCDS could do it think it would need to higher level equipment possibly main dealer ??

Just had a quick google and it seems it may be possible with VCDS, theres a settings in instrument to adjust the count from the distance impulse sender, its not a linear adjustment and only holds arbitrary values (1-7 with default on 4) so it would be a trial and error process and is quite limited in the adjustment scope

If the wheels do put your speedo out a bit then the very minimum you need to do (and cost effective) is to mark or put stickers indicating speeds on the speedo lens referencing a sat nav.

That way I’m sure that you’ll comply with legislation.

Of course resetting the vehicles computer is far more preferable

I'm running 19" wheels on 40 profile tyres currently, and it puts my speedo out by plus 4mph, which was annoying at first because I can see the true speed on the satnav, and not matching can get a little distracting. However, I switched off the visual speed on the nav, and just use the dash one, knowing it's running faster than i'm actually driving, so keeps my under the speed limit even if I creep over, and i'm used to it now.
