Screwfix have a nice cheap multimeter - I keep mine in the van on the basis if I carry it, I won’t get any electrical faults!

and throw that screwdriver tester away........... it wont work on 12v and how do you know its working on 240v then touch a wire would you trust it ...

if its wet ull get a belt through it

Ha yes, I wouldnt use it in anger !! I got a serious shock as a toddler when I played poke the plug socket with a paperclip so I'm very wary. It's back in Jesus's toolbox
