New hook-up euro style inlet

It’s just a spur - no real issue other than a secondary device would be plugged in before the supply got to the vehicle’s RCD etc. it might be too bulky for some vehicles or caravan inlets

I wonder why these aren't available in UK style ?
It is odd isn’t it? Surely this removes the chance of cable strain and keeps the area around the camper that bit more tidy?
Guess you could always fit the van with a corresponding socket (instead of the UK socket) then make your lead up with one of these on end and a UK coupler the other?

Seems overkill for the slight benefits/style points though.

I suppose ultimately i'm just looking for an easy way to plug my induction hob in so we can cook outdoors and at present I have to run a lead out the door .
Seen many of the Spanish,German,French campers with these and it looks like an easy answer.

I have turned the van-end of my EHU cable into a Y arrangement by splicing a 13A waterproof socket onto 1m of lead. That provides us with mains outside the van without having to trail a lead into the van, which is very useful in/under the awning.

Have you got a pic of this Y configuration Shaun ?

That style of adapter probably doesn't have the usual IP rating - I doubt it has any to speak of if the "outside" socket is being used.

If you want 16A-16A in a similar style they are about - they're normally intended for breaking out relatively low loads like lighting from a main supply cable.

Just remember if you split the feed before the vans protective devices you are relying on the ones in the EHU point.

If you don't want to roll your own Tough Leads do something pre-built (I have a few things from them but no other relationship) - again you'd need to consider if this is safe for your situation relying on the site's protective devices alone.

Here it is. The splice is soldered underneath the fabric wrap using those heat-shrink inline connectors. I have a slimline EHU connector under the left light and this is just the right length to provide mains in the awning. Of course, it could be made as long as you need.

Thanks Roadtripper , not seen those adapters before . They add some bulk and unfortunately wouldn't work for me in this scenario but good to know they exist  .
Hadn't even thought about the I.P. rating of the other style .

I 'm a fan of the marine style plugs Shaun , been looking at them for a while . Much smaller and discreet so I may switch to this style anyway when I find a suitable location for it ......and maybe I just fit a socket into my passenger seat base for my hob to go in 🤔
