New kirivan swivel base

As an update on the new Kiravans ones.

I spoke to them and they admitted they’d had issues with the first batch and this has been fixed.

They are now in stock and I’ve had mine delivered.

Tried to fit my passenger one but it hits the top of the leisure battery.

Any recommendations for a swivel that allows for a pleasure battery that sits slightly higher than the seat?
They do a rail kit to lift it up a few mm.

I have just purchased the later (19mm high) swivel plates from Kiravans to fit to my T6. Unfortunately there is far to much flex in the plates which causes them to rock when pulling away. I was very disappointed but good customer service, they have agreed to take them back for a full refund. Do I now try the RIB or Rusty Lee ????

I returned my captains seat swivels to them for the same reason...

We wanted RIB but at last min swapped to KV on reading there blerb.....

Sent them a video of the terrible flexing and seasick feeling when driving.

KV took them back and supplied the RIB versions.

We are happy with them... KV and the Rib swivels.

Had heard some poor comments for the Rusty lee versions.

Very happy with the RIB. Way too much rocking with the Kirvan thinner/lower design. If you add the rails to the RIB that they supply for the drivers seat to clear the Handbrake then I believe its around 45mm. With seat pumped to lowest position this is absolutely fine for me at 6'1".

Thanks, I’m 5ft 3 so low is key :D but good to know re: RIB. Looks a little cheaper than kiravan own too.
It would just be on passenger side, as single slider on my kombi.
Anyone have pictures of a similar kombi set up, so I can see if space to rear bench.

If only fitting to passenger side then no need to add the extra height rails for handbrake clearance, so probably just a 25mm height gain.

Fitted two Kiravans single swivels to my captain seats today. Took no time at all. I found it easier to unscrew and unclip the plastic seat surround to get a ratchet on the front two bolts over using a spanner.

Overall, I’m impressed with how solid they feel under bum. I was worried reading this thread. If you have your seat quite far back you will get wobble/rock. I’m 5ft 11” and for my seat position it’s quite solid with maybe a very slight rock if I’m trying to induce it, or the seat is pushed back.

Easy enough to swivel the passenger once you’ve pumped the seat up a little. If you don’t you catch the seat plastics. Driver needs a little bit of fettling to clear the steering wheel.

Handbrake kit was okay to fit, not 100% on the placement of the shroud so will relook at that another day.

Just waiting for the Ovano seat base cover to be delivered. Will be trying to test fit the Cabbunk Twin this weekend for the kiddos.

Is it in a kombi, how is space to rear bench?

All good. They lock in the forward position.

And use a clever twin cone design to lock the plates in place when driving.

No issues so far.... Thumbs up from us.
I had exactly the same issue with Kiravans with the amount of flex, and would be cautious if the van would pass its MoT. Thanks for the heads-up re RIB

Do you need to cut the base seat cover plate for all swivel bases?
not on the RIB ones, as they have a small riser bar that brings the seat base up enough to clear the handbreak. . . provided the seat is ratched up some.

the Kiravans ones i had . . . come with a handbreak lowering kit.

Hi, sorry, its passenger side so not a handbreak issue. I got to checkout on kiravan sales and it then mentions new rear cover plate (see pic)

If using the RIB swivel plates you can use the existing VW rear seat trim covers without trimming them, they're also more stable, less rock than the Kiravan swivel plates.
