Hi I have just put a new ply floor down in prep for a rubber top, can anyone provide advice as to the best way to finish it ?
Can you buy higher step plastic inlays or do I wrap the plastic over and u set the edge?

Thanks
Daniel

Yes a kombi step will sort it. But you will need to cut the "ear" bits off which are sticking over your step at the moment.
It will make more sense when you have one.
Theres also a full length threshold for the rear which finishes off the back.

Or he could buy a step from the rear of a panel van that came with a rubber mat in the back. That will fit properly and not have any mods to make.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated! just bought these:
Side Load Extra Deep ABS Door Step - VW T5 & T6
Full Length Wide ABS Rear Barn Door Threshold Cover - T5 T6
from Vanstyle

hopefully they should finish things off nice

Best

Daniel

Yeah I went for 12 mm, last one was 9 mm which thought was a little light. I’ve also gone for 25mm screws, I’m guessing I should be of with this length.
Cheers

You should fit something like this first. This us bonded to the floor of the van.
The ply floor can then be bonded or screwed into these.

Wow ok yeah I was just going to copy what was there already.. uurrgh so I haven’t put any batten down.. previously they screwed through into the floor of the van, thought this was what was done. Aargh I put down the sticky sound proofing down already.. hmm ok aargh guess I will have to try and take up the sections where I need to put the ply down! Thanks for the heads up, wasn’t aware to put ply down.

Thanks
Daniel

Would it be ok to bond the 9mm to the insulation or does it have to be the floor metal work?

Thanks

Daniel

typical the video i watched on youtube they also drilled straight into the floor.. dang well looks like i better rip it all up and start over. :(

It's best to bond the 9mm directly to the floor itself. The reason for this is that the ribs are 9mm high so it gives a good solid flat surface.
Prime any holes already there in the steel and fill with sikaflex or similar.
It looks like your floor is 2 or 3 pieces so definitely but battens on the joints to help keep it level. Any slight height differences will easily show in the flooring.

Just one tip for anyone doing this, do not use ‘evo stick no more nails’ .. 18hrs later and still wet.. got to clean that crap off now and buy something that works.. turning into bit of a pain this job haha

Just another heads up!
Do not get aftermarket Side Load Extra Deep ABS Door Step from vanstyle - totally useless .. the plastic which holds in the plugs down is super fragile and breaks with the slightest of pressure !
