Night-heater - electric??

or this style if you have room for it courtesy from Dellmassive thread

VEVOR Air Diesel Heater Fuel 12v 8kw With Lcd Switch 1 Air Outlet For Rv Trucks | VEVOR UK

built in tank but still needs a hole drilled in the floor for the exhaust outlet

but a downside is a bad diesel smell in the van .... if you spill it topping up the tank .... and maybe the noise

a 5 KW

We were out in the van this weekend and yes it was chilly!
We ran out of gas and while in the shop collecting a refill I picked up one of these;

Kampa Diddy Low Wattage Fan Heater

We have a gas blown air heater but while on a campsite plugged into shore power we can now use the electric heater.
It works very well and I would recommend it.

appreciate you posting this, as i've got an eberspracher in the garage that needs fitting. i just dont know if i dare do it myself.
The fiddliest bit was doing the fuel tank stuff. Getting out the fuel feed unit out and doing the necessary with that and refitting. Honestly though, so long as you know one end of a spanner to another, take your time and just work through it methodically. It might seem like a daunting job, but once you start it’s fine.

just using gas in the van causes more condensation and uses up you oxygen if all the doors are closed

I fitted mine in the usual position. Top yellow tubing takes in air from the driver side door step and the bottom yellow tubing shows it being fed back into the van under the driver seat. It’s all hidden and protected by the under tray panels.

Not the best of photos but this is under the driver seat, so to the right of the grommet and just below that earth nut point.

We have a 2kw Webasto diesel heater, a 1-2kw £10electric fan heater & a 700w Screwfix special oil filled radiator & a £20 Aldi electric blanket. As we speak we’re in the alps skiing. When on campsites with EHU we use the fan heater during the evening, & oil filled radiator (silent) and leccy blanket at night. We’ve also stealthed it at various ski-lift car parks and use the Webasto. Never been cold on any configuration. The 2kw fan heater is too much on full chat, we usually run it at 1kw which suits the 6A restrictions imposed by some campsites. The 2 KW Webasto modulates on/off & keeps the interior at around 24 deg. Personally I wouldn’t go any larger than 2KW as it will be too much and short cycling. Bear in mind that this is all happening at temperatures between -5 & -20C. I have the TC4 controller on the Webasto & set it to come on automatically at 0730, so at 0800 when we get out of bed, the van is warm and toasty.

@russ_e wow ok Not such a good idea but he does say it was faulty but thanks for sharing i wont be going for a chinese heater now will pay to get it installed properly kind regards Nick
So how does something “disconnected from a battery” catch fire, faulty or not?

Switched off without the run-down cooling cycle being completed for whatever reason. Possibly operator error by removing power source before complete shutdown. Doesn't help having the fuel tank mounted on top of the heater!

Someone else commented that it was very poorly put together- fuel tank not fixed and fuel line rubbing against a sharp edge..
