Just purchased a new NoCo genius 5 charger to top my van battery up as it isn't in constant use, bought ''new'' off Fleabay, plugged it in last night and only stays in standby, does not allow me to scroll through the modes?? van battery is not dead either, attached the cigarette attachment and the red light was blinking?? am I being a bit thick or is the charger caput?? I can get a refund from the seller, any advice chaps???

It can't detect the power from your vans
battery.

Is the 12 volt plug fully pushed in to the 12 volt socket.?

So maybe the fuse is blown in your 12 volt socket.

Or you're 12 volt socket isn't connected to the battery.

Try using the included crop clips to connect direct to the battery just as a test.

My version ..

.

Yes that's the same adapter I have, I did think about the crocodile clip connection last night but was freezing and could'nt be bothered, will try later when I get home, also I plugged the charger in the house, no battery connection and it just shows the standby light, will not allow scrolling through the different modes, is this correct???

It's a smart charger and needs to "see" some battery voltage before it starts the charge profile.

Id image the center pin wasn't touching the rear of the 12v socket.

Assuming you have a T6?

Have up tested the 12v socket is supplying power?

I have a Noco 5 just been out to the garage to check and without a battery connected it only shows the orange power light and won’t scroll through the mode’s until a battery is connected.

So got home, connected the charger to the battery with the crocodile attachments and still nothing apart from the standby light??? vans battery is fine as i kicked it in just to make sure, am i still doing something wrong???

I used my Noco Genius 5 today, as I often do, I've got a number of tractors and ride on mowers that get little use in winter so I keep them charged every week.
I simply plugged it into the mains, which causes the standby light to illuminate.
Then I apply the crocodile clips to the battery and it automatically starts charging with no input from me, I usually get one red light pulsing, then two, and so on until the green light illuminates.
If I connect to a fully charged battery it shows the green light straight away.

Purchased a new one as 20% off at Halfords, connected up and all is good, original “new” Fleabay charger is being sent back for a refund, cheers chaps

You need to move those need connections, and the charger neg over to the light bracket.

Which fuse is for the 12v socket?
