Noisy Gear Stick

The gearstick in my manual 150ps Transporter is a bit notchy and noisy. It sort of creaks and squeaks like it needs some sort of lubrication.
I’ve popped the cover off the gear selector, how can I lubricate it? It looks like there is already some Vaseline type stuff in there. Can I use that to stop it making so much noise whenever I change gear?

The had this on mine, I just popped the covers off and forced some bearing grease into the joints. Smooth and quiet since.

Same here. Noisy gear stick, but didn't find a way to remove the gaiter.

Help would be much appreciated.

The gaiter and plastic trim slide towards the seats, with two hands try and grip the surround and pull towards you, it should then pop off.

Access is a bit awkward even with the gaiter off, if needed you can get in behind to the plastic mechanism easier if you pop the radio fascia surround with a trim tool and then remove the air vents, providing you’ve got a trim tool it’s not difficult.

Mine seems to do this but only when the cabin is hot, when cold its great....? And i can't get the gear stick surround off..?
