Yeah we’re away this weekend for the first time this year! We have a new awning and stuff to try. We struggled to find anywhere up north that was open but found some space on Arran! Loads to do there and not too far drive. Photo’s to follow! @saxoboy the lights are fitted thanks, just need to work out how to attach the extra two wires!

Also planning North Coast 500 in late August in our new (to us) T6. She became ours less than 2 weeks ago and we’ve been to Bridlington and Muker (both local in Yorkshire) and loved the feeling of freedom.
Appreciate the guidance on this thread so far, thanks. We’re taking from it that booking ahead is wise, but may be difficult? Grateful for Scottish Outdoor Access Code for wild camping, as hard to predict how much travelling we will want to do day after day, and when we might want a ‘stay put and chill out’ day.

Any recommendations for the anti-clockwise Coastal trip from Inverness to Fort William appreciated. Best sites, scenery, routes or other tips?
To those with experience, is 10 nights sensible to do this anti-clockwise trip round the coast, taking in a 3 night stop on Skye, then to Fort William? Don’t want to feel like we’re constantly on the move (hence stop on Skye).
Any advice regarding midges also appreciated - best repellent? Already suffering after one night away in Swaledale!

Thanks and enjoy your camper!
I did the NC500 about 2 years ago. Spent 5 to 6 weeks doing it with a couple of side trips to Orkney and Glen Affric. Did nearer 1000 miles, not 500 with all the little detours. Even then I know I missed so much. Tbh 10 days will just have you wanting to go back and see more. But if that’s all you can do first time then just do it. Incredible scenery. Just loved it.

I touched a bit of the route today - we went over to Ullapool.

We’ve spent a week in Bonar Bridge, and it’s amazing at the difference in towns that are on and off the route - the NC500 towns are so much busier, and full of campers.

Omg that campsite brings back nightmares for me. We were in a tent where the Motorhomes are in that pic In 2014. Campsite was full in the evening.
Storm from America hit. At 3am had to abandon tent, there were no other tents left. Luckily motorbikes still there. In the morning the road out of Ullapool was washed away.

Keep moving and the midges won't get you - on which note, a guy I know cycled the NC500 this weekend in under 38 hrs. Mental.

Well done to him, that's impressive indeed. One of the first cycling record breakers on the route now charges £2500 for accommodation and 'guiding' around the route over 5 days. That's pretty mental as well.

At last we have been given good news up here in Scotland, from the 5th of April the stay at home order is to be changed to stay local. Which means you should stay within your local authority areas.
Since i live in the Highlands, i can't wait to head out somewhere nice overnight in 3 weeks time.
And from the 26th of April all travel will be allowed nationwide. With accommodation opening up, the Campsite owners will be delighted to hear this news. So am i! :think smile bounce:

Member if yer coming to Scotland bring midge spray especially if you're travelling further north. .

Oh and it's been very nice up here the sun has even made a guest appearance too. 3 days in a row.

Cannot wait to head up the north west again at the end of the month. Have missed the winter mountain experience this year but have remained in good health so can’t complain. Don’t usually stay at sites but think I will this year to put some dosh into their coffers. Fife is nice but it’s pretty flat and civilised!

Yeah there's still a wee bit of snow further up north. Fife is nice too. But if you're allowed get up north . Really nice places .

I’ve booked 4 weeks around in Scotland - Perthshire, Aberdeen, Inverness , argyll, any tips on things to do and see?

4 weeks is plenty time to see most of Scotland. The NC 500 is a great drive, with stunning scenery. Most folk just whizz round out, but take your time and relax.
You can also buy an Island hopper ticket that lets you explore the Western Isles. I had it booked last May, but had to cancel.

Ben Nevis a must . For William downhill mountain bike course, silver sands of morar beach is stunning . Hopefully I spelled it correctly. Look on the 7staines website if you're into mountain bikes. These are just a couple of my favourite things. There are plenty of Munro's to do aswell I,m sure there's a million things to do.
