OEM Roof Prep, Roof Bars and Awning Brackets - Help I'm confused!!

Actually, because I can't remeber doing it last time I looked, I wanted to check the relative heights of the F40 vs F45S on the "normal" roof mount brackets.

It's a bit tricky as the diagrams FIAMMA provide don't have measurements from the same datum points so it's hard to compare. I put them into Photoshop to overlay them and the profiles of the roof are not quite the same either.

So this has very little CAD credibility but combining the two diagrams and assuming they are to scale (even though we know it's not quite true) the F40 (green) overlaid looks like this:

That’s quite a difference

Thank you for all your help

Keep in mind this is just a graphical comparisson, in the two source diagrams even the shape of the roof gutter is different! I just lined the mounting bolts up and scaled the F40 diagram mostly to fit the shape of the gutter. With a quick bit of analysis using the ruler tool it turned out the F40 diagram isn't even square to it's own scale.

I've tweaked it a bit so that the dimension lines are all to the same scale between the two diagrams and updated the image above. Very roughly the result shows that the F45 is about 2cm taller than the F40 - which surprised me. Again - very very roughly go and talk to some awning fitters if that 2cm is make or break!

Another thing to think about - if you remove the awning cassette then an F40 bracket is very low, but a F45S bracket is likely still the same height as the F40 fitted...
