They aren’t too difficult to strip down. You just need a set of security star sockets (£6.00) from Halfords and a riveter that can handle 6.4mm rivets. Drilling out the original rivets is easy.
I’m using a combination of heat shrink black plastic tube and satin black powder coating.

£200 to strip and spray black. Already had the v2 rack so didn’t cost a lot to go black. Looks 100% better IMO. My local dealer did it all for me. Very helpful.
