Off grid remote working - What setup?

Just a question - why the Starlink - rather than your mobile acting as a hotspot for your laptop?

Remember you should not plan to run the battery flat.. I think the target is 50% - but not an expert...

THANKS
Starlink isn’t mobile phone signal dependent, and it’s much faster. The coverage is much wider.
The notional 50% battery rule only applies to lead acid batteries, you can run Lithium down to 5% with no detrimental impact.

Don’t neglect the non-electrical side either. Very different use-case (five people, leisure trips) but in our multi-week roadtrips the electrical side of things was the easy bit. Water, toilets, showers and laundry were actually the binding constraints that made us check in to a campsite on a regular basis.

I regularly hotspot on my phone, particularly if I’m in a 5G area. However, if I’m in a mobile signal “not spot” I resent being gouged by campsites for a dodgy WiFi that’s up and down more than a bridesmaid’s dress. Also, I can do work calls in the van while the boys are “researching” on the net in the back of the van!

Starlink is satellite internet, not mobile signal
