Oil change: flush or not?

I've never used it and I've had several diesels of various types over the years which I've later sold on with over 200K miles on the clock still running nicely. I change the oil at no more than 10K miles regardless of what the book says, that's more important in my opinion.
Cheers for that Dave I had a Tiguan for a number of years and used flushing oil with the oil change but always wondered if there was any detergent residue left in the oil galleries or small pockets when replacing new oil.

I used a flush at my last oil change as the van was on 113k and I thought I’d give it a good flush. I won’t flush it again though as I’d rather have old oil residue than diluted flush/oil left behind.

I’ve never been convinced with flushing, even in the “old” days of pure mineral oils. In these days of synthetic detergent oils I think flushing is passé.
Just my 2 penneth.

No need to flush. If you take the cam cover off a modern diesel that's done mega miles, it's clean as a whistle once the black oil had drained away. The oil keeps the debris in suspension, and out it goes when draining down.
