12 months since last oil change but just under 2000 miles since. Would you change or not? Total 11,000 from new,T6 102ps , very little use during lock down period. Change the bikes annually but they only take just over a litre so not costly.
Absolutely. Water in the oil from condensation is more of a risk with short journeys too, so not all mileages are equal.I'd say yes too. Risk of some water in the oil from condensation.
I've just changed mine, which was about 14 months and 6000 miles old on a 2017 35K mile 204 bi-turbo. It had Quantum Longlife 3 5W-40, and I changed for the same. I'll send the old oil off for analysis, see sample bottle below, and I also fitted a Gold Plug, magnetic sump plug to see if any ferrous stuff collects over the next twelve months.
Cost for oil and filter from TPS is less than £50, so not a significant cost. The oil came out black!

What's OAK?I'm expecting my OAK from Opie today..
Oil Analysis KitWhat's OAK?
I’ve just had mine changed in the last week. My local “goto” independent charged me £140 all in. That’s using genuine OEM VW filter & oil (quantum long life lll) he even gave me the 3litres or so of spare oil to take home. He’d had to buy 10litres, so there was some left over.Depends if you plan to keep it long term? Fresh oil is always good for the current owner, but not if you plan to sell it in the foreseeable future and somebody else then benefits from it.
My local independent charged me £223 last time for an oil and filter change, it's £204 from the local main dealer.
Where do these independents dream up their prices?!
TBF, I think the oil is more than that. They obviously distil it from the tears of vestal virgins & then blend it with diamond dust.I think the VAG independents are taking the piss, as Catfood says, oil/filter for £50 and then 30 mins to do the job does not equal £223, even after costs.
Doesn’t even take that long, they vacuum it out. Nice to think they pull the drain plug out to remove the dregs but I’ve marked mine beforehand and they don’t.30 mins to do the job
Oh I dunno! A vasectomy isn’t that bad….once the swelling goes downDoesn’t even take that long, they vacuum it out. Nice to think they pull the drain plug out to remove the dregs but I’ve marked mine beforehand and they don’t.
I reckon about 10 minutes with the tools set up and hot oil.
One the pre-paid service plan was finished a VW dealership visit is just ahead of Vasectomy is the order of things I never want to do.
Or take away the pain and keep the swellingOh I dunno! A vasectomy isn’t that bad….once the swelling goes down
The old ones are the bestOr take away the pain and keep the swelling
