Oil specs - 2021 199bhp 4mo Caravelle

Morning,

Wife’s just gone to Centerparks with our Caravelle.

She’s had ‘Reduce Oil Level - go to workshop’ appear on dash on the way.

Thing is I had a local garage MOT and oil service the car last week, since then it’s covered almost no miles before my wife set off to Longleat. Our previous two 204bhp Caravelles (T5 and T6) both had engines destroyed by EGR issues so I now have the oil changed on this one every 5k.

I’m thinking the local garage put too much of the wrong oil in the engine. They charged me for 7.5 litres of unspecified oil. I can’t check it myself nor do I want to ask the wife to walk up to the car park and find engine codes etc (and I don’t want the argument about mansplaining…).

Can anyone confirm this models engine code, oil capacity, and oil grade please.

I can’t find it online or in the forum here and want to know facts before kicking off with the local garage.

Here’s a good place to start.

Check the oil is in the centre of the dipstick markings.

If they didn't read the VW Spec and filled it to the top that's your issue.

Search with ‘oil level’, it’s a known issue, possibly due to fuel dilution. If it is due to fuel dilution you need to act to prevent engine damage.

From the digital manual the oil grade is listed as the following standards

• VW 507 00
• VW 509 00
• ACEA C3
• API CJ-4
