My '69 Bug, off the road at the moment as it's about to go into my garage for a freshen up now that I have moved house and got a bit more room. Full Kingfisher Kustoms roll-cage, Wizard Roadsters flip-front (apparently the last one they ever made), and an Arnie Levics 1776cc twin-carb flat four from a 356 with external oil cooling (mounted under the left rear wing). It was mechanically finished by Machine7 and painted by The Paintbox in Colchester to look like this around 1999.
The wheels are awful.. I realise that now, but I did buy them in back in 1996... Erco's are the way to go!
Needing a vehicle to tow it to the drag strip and somewhere to sleep is why I bought the T6
The paint is a little sorry now after 22 years so the plan is to repaint it in RAL7016 satin grey (to go with the Pure Grey T6) - hopefully you'll see "The Flying Dutchman" race team on the drag strip sometime soon!
Beetle clutch was showing signs of slipping on big hills on closer inspection have oil leak on new engine. Stripped it out and £10 seal has signs of leaking. Not impressed but German made seals still fail.
Finished off all prep removed roof and off to workshop for final welding, paint underneath in raptor and paint roof and inside in original pastel Vw L90d.
Been distracted as selling T6 as new van has arrived....
Was it a Devon or Holdsworth roof?
I fitted a Holdsworth roof to a 1973 that I had many years ago, bought from Holdsworth when they had one of their sales days.
It is a Devon roof bud, did a full refurb a few years back, new rivets, strengthen it and vinyled over the top. Only issue is did it in beige to match van and now painting van in bmw volcanic orange
The blue camper on the cover of The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan summed up the free-spirited 60s. It was owned by a New York butcher and this is its hidden story
Took in a show in recently, and off to a show this weekend. But had a misfire and casting on newish manifolds had warped. Replaced and looking at an ecu driven ignition install as sick of poor quality parts.
