Operate T6 front wipers with ignition off

If its not a silly question, why are you trying to do what you are doing? I.e. run the wipers with the ign. off.

I'd be more interested in finding a way to stop the wipers wiping when you use the washers, I hate auto wipe.

Hi all, after much probing, debugging, etc, I'm pretty sure I've worked out where the fault with my front wipers. It appears the BCM is unable to output 12V on T73a/71 or /69 (fast or slow wipe). I suspect there is an issue with a blown FET or something in the BCM. There is no issue with the stalk or the fuses.

I've opened up the BCM, and have inspected the outputs on T73a/71 and /69. They are definitely relay selected (OMRON G8NB-17SR), and as such I'm doubtful the wipers are controlled by PWM. Also I can energise T73a/71 and 69 with the loom unplugged and get the wipers to move.

How I suspect I damaged the device was by trying to apply 12V to the wipers directly with a battery - which turned out to be flat. It was only slightly activating the wipers, and potentially creating a problem on the BCM. I may have also had a dodgy ground which could have been creating problems.

Anyways, unless someone on the site has a schematic of the BCM circuit board, I'm probably off to the wreckers to get a new BCM.

Moral of the story: Use a proper vehicle tester probe to energise circuits on the T6, rather than my ghetto battery circuit. Probably also don't let electronics engineers without much vehicle experience near your own vehicle! ;)
Do you have any photos of the inside of the BCM? Would be interested to see, just out of curiosity.

same here, nothing worse in Autumn when the roads a greasy & its drizzling, trying to clean the screen & the wipers have cleared the wash liquid before its had chance to do anything.

OK I think I'm going to have to give up and purchase a replacement BCM :(

I've never done this before - any recommendations for good suppliers of second hand parts?

How do I make sure I get the exact replacement part (with the right firmware loaded on it etc)?

I've only just seen this tread and I'm sorry to hear of your problems.
The only way I can see to do what you want is to add a relay onto each wire going to the wiper. You'll only need to do this on the power feed and slow speed power feed.

The relays need to be connected so they are energised when the ignition is on, which then makes the connection from the wipers to the BCM. When the ignition is off, the relay can switch to connect the wipers direct to the battery via a swith.

I've still no idea why you need to do this. Switching on the ignition and turning on the wipers isn't hard.

Great idea using the relay.

I'm a wildlife photographer, need a remote switch in the back to quickly flick the front wipers if needed.

Further to this, I managed to find a replacement BCM on eBay (100 pounds). Thanks everyone for your help with this!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been pondering this for weeks, trying to think what your use-case was :slow rofl:
