Opinions on this van.......

Looking for a T6.1 to convert and this has really caught my eye as its in my favourite colour of Bayleaf Green

What do people think of it? Spec seems good with electric sliders, LED lights, swivel captain seats etc. I've never converted a Kombi, only a panel van so im not sure what difficulties or challenges I would face (if any)??
I'm not sure if £48k inc VAT is a bit steep for it but maybe thats the going rate :(

Also, maybe a daft question but what are the boxed areas above the wheel arches? Some sort of power/motor for the elec sliders??

Thanks all :)
This purely my opinion based on experience & nothing more. Leighton are just down the road from us & were an obvious choice when we were looking for a conversion. We visited them once & saw them at Busfest & that's as far as it went. They were very indifferent to our needs, it was a take it or leave it attitude. The vans that we looked at were tarted up with plenty of bolt on bling, but not much in the way of substance or quality. We decided that they weren't for us. They look the part, but it's only skin deep. Like I said, this is purely my opinion based on brief experience.

Yeah you just need to alter your design a bit for the dual doors. I think it does open up more options though.

And thanks! Tbh with the amount of work I put into this one I'd struggle making any profit! But if I had access to CNC machining it would make things a lot more precise and quicker. Ultimately though, the amount of people who want to store 2x bikes in a SWB van, AND sleep in it, AND have a full kitchen... Must be pretty low!

If I ever changed vans it'd be for a LWB in some form or another, it's only 40cm extra but it makes all the difference!
hence why im going LWB this time around. Owned two SWB T6's now and everybody says the extra 400mm really does make a difference!

An opinion based on experience is most welcomed mate! Its easy to be blinded by fancy mods so I appreciate your input

Speaking of toilet/shower area, this conversion somewhat caught my eye! Different to anything I'd seen before

That's a very nice 'Rear kitchen layout'. Use that term in Google and you will find maybe 10-20 companies doing that layout or similar, including Leisuredrive who did mine.

The issue is storage. That one has California-style outdoor chairs in the tailgate, but where does bedding go? An outdoor table? BBQ? Awning?

But definitely something to consider.

My immediate concern is what you have put here. I started to think about where the inflatable awning could go, bedding etc etc. I do like my U-shape so I may go with that again, just in a LWB this time

Do you store all this under the u-shaped seats?

Currently yes. The rear part of the U has to hinged lids which offers really good storage
With the U shaped layout you have no rear seats you can use for traveling, correct? That's the biggest difference I think, if you only need 2 or 3 seats up front then it gives a lot more freedom in the back! And if you want both seats and storage in the back then you have to go for a bed/seat with storage which cuts down the options.

Yeah its just me and mrs so two seats works fine for us. I have seen seatbelted U-shapes before though!

That ain't necessarily so - I've seen a u- shaped conversion on here that has 2 belted rear seats. IIRC, @CJW has such a setup.

Yeah, I’ve seen a rear kitchen setup with 2 separate seats up front. The seats fold down to make a double bed or 2 singles. The same van has a loo it it too.
