P0087 - Van sick abroad - What to do?

Currently abroad in Spain after a 2 day road trip. On motorway sitting at 70mph, started an uphill stretch and the coil light starting flashing. Managed to pull over, P0087 - Fuel rail/system pressure - Too low.

Did this two more times in similar scenarios, then the 4th time going up a mountain road (I have a DSG) where it went into limp in 3rd and dropped through the gears to 1st then started hesitating as if starved of fuel. Reset, ignition off/on and recovered luckily (40deg.C and little mobile signal). Managed to get to where we are staying very cautiously.

Stuck with a choice now; limp home 1200 miles and hope for the best, or get it to a garage tomorrow. Hopefully the garage can give me a more informed choice or even fix it reasonably, but a bit nervous to loose the van, could potentially try diagnosing and leave it in a state where fixing would be the only choice and parts may not be available in time.

Supposed to be leaving Thursday which would give them 3 days turn around.

In the case of the van not being fit to drive back, we are returned home, then I am brought back to Spain to drive it back. The van being delivered back unfixed wasn't an option mentioned, and can't have a hire car for the way back apparently as crossing two countries.

Full VWSH and new £16k engine / DPF / Turbos / Cat (17 plate) 10k miles ago, thought the engine issues would be behind me for longer than this. Guess the fuel rail / pump etc were probably reused from the old engine?
