parking pilot ?

hi all just picked up my T6 17 plate 204 dsg highline i have front & rear parking pilot on it standard vw one does the parking pilot only work when reverse gear is selected and reversing as it does not seem to activate parking up in drive gear for any obsticles in front of me or im i missing something ???? i have a golf gtd with same front & rear parking pilot and that will work when parking up etc in both forward and reverse gear

You have to press the P button on the dash to manually activate them they are not automatic on the front like they are on golfs

cheers Paul if you press the P button to use front sensors will it still stay on automatic for the rear sensors or does that over ride and put back to manual when put in reverse ??? if you know what i mean they both come on now automatic now when reverse selected

P button activates the whole system front and rear and will stay on until a) you press the button again b) you turn the key off or c) you drive away and go over 8 mph (ish)

Once it’s on it stays on until you either press the button again, reach a set forward speed or turn the van off
