Passenger door not opening/unlocking from outside.

Bought a 2021 T6.1 with only 27k kms on the clock a few weeks back, happy with the van.

One little niggle has appeared though

The passenger door doesn’t open from the outside, like the exterior door handle doesn’t do anything when you pull it.

Opens fine from the interior, I’ve lubricated the catch and opened closed the door numerous times with no luck.

Recall on the door cable was completed in 2022z

Any pointers before I book it into the dealership to fix it under warranty?

Hi I had exactly the same problem after the recent cold snap. Worked fine from the inside but not the outside handle. I removed the door card and window regulator panel to discover the plastic cage that holds the bowden to the exterior door handle had snapped. I order the part form the local VW dealer (£22).

My van had the cables replaced under warranty also.

I’ve had the same passenger door handle issue in the cold, opened but then would not latch shut, van is 2021, I read that it was the 2020 year that had issues and later vans had the fix in the factory, obviously not, I need to get this sorted, VW can’t make a car door handle work in a bit of frost?..

Yes, that was me asking for help, I will try it soon as possible, it really is poor of VW, I thought they test their vehicles in extreme climates

They do but most vehicles still need lubricants for this and that.

Thanks guys, its not just the cold, I live in Oz and the issue presented itself on a 38c day!

Tried lubricating the lock but don’t want to pull it apart as Van is still under warranty.

Booked into the dealer to have a look on Thursday, will let the forum know what the issue was for future reference!

Apparently it was a faulty Bowden cable, strange considering the recall was done. All fixed now under warranty.

Unfortunately will have to go back to the dealer as my LH door now has a clearly audible rattle
