Penny for your thoughts

You've got a contract then - offer and acceptance! o_O
That’s what I believe to be the case, as @JOG said there is no completion date so therefore it is still valid. I don’t want to drive 2 hours to have them say “ not as described “ or something to that effect and then say £33.5k. Frustrating to say the least

If you want me to cast a jaundiced eye over it, DM me and I’ll give you my email address. I’d need to read the “small print” too though and any other correspondence.

My cynical view is simple: once you reach for “the contract” recognise that you are also at the steps of the divorce court!

*gets off his soapbox now!

Indeed. Having a contract is one thing, but proving it is another (probably quite expensive) thing!

Thanks @JOG i think as @ThreeBridgeT6 has said proving anything is a different matter. It’s more frustrating than anything. I have spent more than £120k with this dealer in the last 4 years as I change my vehicles regularly, as @moomin-j will confirm I have previously said “nothing is forever, not even the wife” ha ha

This is ringing bells for me when a similar but different thing happened to me when buying our VW Estate from Parkway Northampton...the guy wouldn't do me any favours whatsoever as he said their stock is 'priced to sell' on the internet. Went up one weekend to have a look, 4 hr round trip, liked it but didn't want to quite commit there and then...no finance required and no trade in so he didn't seem overly interested (surprise surprise)....said id think about it..hassled me three times in the week and I agreed to have it third time...went up following weekend to collect, got all the paperwork out , just about to sign on the dotted line and noticed the price had increased by £975, the thieving b$stards...
When I queried this he said that because there had been other interest out there it had pushed the price up! Needless to say.. I didn't pay the extra and was fuming.. I should of walked but it was a bloody nice car so I did come away with it but will never go there again.
I very quickly realised that buying/sellling is not what it used to be thanks to the Internet......

Good approach! I would be inclined to play @huw169 card - the “I was interested, but it’s not worth it now” line and let him stew! Always be content to walk away from a bad deal!
