Wow. What is it and what kind of camera/lens combo do you have to take something like that?Taken from London but waiting for van to take us to darker skies for more astrophotography…View attachment 127674
I think your friend is right. The bit of fork blur emphasised movement.I know its another MTB photo but I quite like it, despite a bit of motion blur on the forks, bars and legs. I have told my mate that to get the best image he should go slow, but he seems to think that he is going to look better if he is at warp speed. Doh

Nice pic. What kit are you using. I’ve not really done any night sky photography since I finished my Astronomy degree.Taken from London but waiting for van to take us to darker skies for more astrophotography…View attachment 127674
Thanks! Its the Rosette nebula or C49 and is about 5,200 light years from us. It’s a canon EOS 800D that’s been astro modded (removed IR cut filter) and a 72mm diameter 420mm focal length wide field telescope. It’s about 1.5hrs of 3minute exposures stacked on top of each other all through a narrowband filter.Wow. What is it and what kind of camera/lens combo do you have to take something like that?
See above - crikey, astronomy degree!!Nice pic. What kit are you using. I’ve not really done any night sky photography since I finished my Astronomy degree.
Good information. However a light year is a distance not a time. 1 light year is the distance that light will travel in a year. So if the nebula is 5200 light years away then the light will take 5200 years to reach us.Thanks! Its the Rosette nebula or C49 and is about 5,200 light years from us. I find it fascinating that the light captured (and what we see in the photo) left that huge bit of space 5,200 light years ago!

Absolutely stunning!Haven't posted anything for quite a while but have been browsing lately. Full house gut and renovation during lockdown as couldn't work so van was used as a builders van
Anyway, looking through forum and came across this thread. Cheating a bit as I am a professional wildlife and landscape photographer but here's a sample. Went to Yellowstone 5 weeks before first lockdown so very lucky.
