Hi All,

This is my first post so please bear with me.

I'm looking to upgrade my standard head unit in my Highline combi(2018) with a Pioneer SPH-DA360DAB. I've looked at some threads on here, and it seems that this will work well for what I want. Can just I remove the existing unit and use all the existing connections in the loom, and pretty much fit it as a plug and play unit? My van has got a rear view camera that works through the standard unit.
Thanks for any input.

Most aftermarket head units require an additional loom to make use of vehicle's additional features above standard power and speaker connections. Depending on the new head unit you may even require an aerial adapter.

I have only experience with Kenwood units as this has been my brand of choice for years and all have required an additional loom for VW, Skoda and Toyota. My current Kenwood also needed an additional box to allow it to use the rear parking sensors.

Thanks for the info. I’ve swapped out a few head units over the years, and used loom adapters, but it’s been a while and they were pretty straight forward, and there’s a lot more things to retain like reversing camera and all the steering wheel button operation.

You will need a vehicle specific adapter loom and being a highline you will need the one that works with your steering wheel controls. If you have parking sensors and want to keep the display on the head unit you’ll need an additional adapter for this. If the reversing camera is genuine VW you’ll need the correct adapter for this too, which will also support the parking sensors.

We can supply these for you, or supply and fit if preferred.
