Replying in case this helps anyone in the future, the plastic trim around the seat area and lumbar handle came out of alignment, there are plastic spacers on the trim that should sit into holes in the seats metal frame. I needed to pull the plastic trim about to get them back in their holes (originally I started bashing it, don’t do that). Once that was sitting right the handle clipped back in properly and stayed on.
