Ply Guys U-Shape Layout

Hi all, does anyone have any real-life experience of a Ply Guys U-shaped set up in a SWB T6?

Im thinking a Clachan and Torridon combinationn with a fridge in their Bruich Beag kitchen pod. Must haves are the long pull out drawers for cooking etc out of the back.

Am I right in thinking this potentially maximies the sleeping space on the drivers side as theres no additional unit in the way like some U-shapes?

How are you finding the layout long term?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts/experience

Watching with interest. Needing a van with 6 seats occasionally but also wanting a camper (never at the same time) I like the ‘removable’ aspect of their set up.

This is exactly what we have.
+ve big bed
+ve social aspect of being able to sit round the table
+ve Panoramic all round windows
+ve Good storage capacity
+ve can be easily removed if needed.

-ve reality of cooking on top of pull out drawer doesn't match the postcard (have never achieved it)
-ve accessing the contents of pull out drawer whilst it's pi55ing down with rain and you realise you need something (have now learned to pack properly!)
-ve no seat belts on back (but we don't need them for any extra passengers)

Im thinking a Clachan and Torridon combinationn with a fridge in their Bruich Beag kitchen pod. Must haves are the long pull out drawers for cooking etc out of the back. Answer I have a tailgate which gives me some cover over my pull out Torridon. I’ve cooked successfully on here with a single gas ring. I often cook on a table though by the sliding door. Never in the van. I store food and plates etc in the Bruich Beag big lower draw, cutlery, travel kettle and milk frother, Texan and coffee in upper draw. I have my fridge stand alone.

Am I right in thinking this potentially maximies the sleeping space on the drivers side as theres no additional unit in the way like some U-shapes? Answer I have a flip upper thing on the Bruich Beag as you’ll see which shortens the sleeping length a little. It’s still around 6ft. Longer if you sleep more centrally and don’t have your feet against the unit.

How are you finding the layout long term? Answer, we love it. It’s the right set up for us. We have changed the central table let mount for a Lagun table leg system, this is much more flexible. Lagun Swivelling Table Leg System

Thanks in advance for any thoughts/experience

Great thanks for the feedback. Exactly what I wanted some pros and cons. Why did you give up on cooking on the pull out drawer? Was that a weather thing? We have barn doors so I can see they being less flexible.

The benefit of having the strong pull out drawer for me is I can use them for work without having to totally remove the setup so having it as an option to cook seems good.
I'm not sure but are the ply guys drawers not accessible from inside now by removing the cushions? If not I'm sure a small mod would fix that but another good point, I hadnt considered if it means a treck around back to gran something

Cheers again for the info

Excellent thanks very much. Sounds good to us and good to hear the bedspace is actually that big. I was worried one of us was going to suffer with shorter sleep space but that sounds more than enough and as you so no need to sleep totally to the side or straight.

Great idea with the Lagun, I've seems similar elsewhere which definitely seems to offer must more social space

Thanks again for taking time to post

We have an awning kitchen set up and keep the cadac in the drawer above the fridge. i find it a pain moving the cooker and gas to the back door every time you want to cook. I have used the pull out for the jetboil and a quick brew up though.
We have barn doors and if you want something out of the pull out you have to unlock both doors to allow the pull out to exit the driver's rear door.
I think they may have modified the Torridon unit since we bought ours but as you'll see below, access in to the drawers from above is not easy.
I think the Assynt units might have better in van access.

Our Lagun table location. It’s incredibly flexible in use.
