Sorry to hear your...“Sleepless in .......”. Be great if you could post a pic of your setup...we just got a new awning tent ..so need to learn new thoughts on wet weather camping ( it’s going to be the norm with Covid-19 Staycations)Absolutely hammering it here, roof came down straight off the bat and I tried to sleep in the awning but failed miserably so at present been awake 24hrs![]()

Hi @SENTINEL ... We’ve got the Vango Rhone low ..yes not cheap but apparently able to cope with higher temperatures that we now experience and better for longevity..sorry should have elaborated on Pod ..it’s a slidepodsInterested to know what awning tent you have gone for.
Also, what is a pod bed please?

Here’s my set up
just angle pegs well so they don’t move, not one of mine has shifted throughout the storm so far (touch wood)
I also carry a can of waterproofing for emergencies, last night I did have a small leak round one of the windows which once sprayed sorted itself out.
Use the storm straps provided and I purchased another for where the awning attaches to the van as that’s super flappy so this helped

I had an old T4 with REIMO and forgot to strap it down, it popped up at 70MPH. not one problem or bit of damage. A lucky escapeAfternoon all, as I mentioned in my last thread I’m currently in st ives camping. Tonight we have an epic storm inbound however I use my poptop for my kids to sleep in.
What normally would the poptop stand in terms of wind?? I’m worried as it’s our first ever storm camping and I know we have a few vets on here who have braved some fair weatherany help appreciated
Get your Mrs to stop up tonight ;-)Absolutely hammering it here, roof came down straight off the bat and I tried to sleep in the awning but failed miserably so at present been awake 24hrs![]()
I used the kampa waterproofing spray but bought some fabisil aswellHi.. Thanks..is that the Galli sister of the Rhone ....from what I’ve read new Polycotton tents need to be Wetted ? Vango seam a bit vague on how it’s done ..having not had a tent long enough ( we sold our Hexaway after 3 uses ) so really unaware about reproofing .
what waterproof spray do you use
I’ve put the roof up as need the space ffsCurrently stood in the awning holding up the outer airbeam!!!
Unlimited Data tariff.....Wow..I’m glad the kids have flown the nest ( just thought you could be on free WiFi )This is the worst storm I’ve ever faced, there’s even a motorhome tied down with storm straps.
The tenters are all having to make constant adjustments to their straps, and then there’s a few plonkers who’ve gone out for the day and expect other people to peg their tents down for them while they go out for the day.
My nextdoor neighbour is a real plonker, he spent hours yesterday trying to put his tent up, he’s got hardly any gear, they got soaked last night, nowhere to take refuge and today he’s trying to peg it all down again. Why put your kids through all this, it’s so wet and windy that there is absolutely no enjoyment.
We’ve been holed up in the cosy caravan, the kids have rinsed over 125gb of data in 3 days![]()
