After deciding not to permanently install a Lithium battery into my T6 or Motorhome due to the temperature issues, I have decided to build a "Portable" battery box. Thanks @Dellmassive for your inspiration.
The plan is to have the 100ah battery in a Bison battery box with a Victron SmartShunt. Simple so far.
But, what I want is flexibility to use in non-usual and removeable scenarios.
1) To charge the Portable from the vehicle. DC to DC will accomplish this.
2) To charge the Leisure battery from the Portable. Again, using a DC to DC will accomplish this, but wiring needs to be changed.
I am looking at putting in a DPDT switch on the input and the output of the DC to DC charger. This will allow me to send the charge to and from the relevant batteries. Of course the settings in the DC to DC will need modifying, but this is not going to be a routine thing, but a backup.
As an aside, I may add an MPPT / main charger as well, but that's of course straight forward.
My questions are:
1) Does the attached diagram look sensible?
2) If the switches were set to Portable in and Portable out (by accident), would that cause a problem, or just potentially drain the battery?
3) What is the difference between a BM2 and a Victron SmartShunt?
4) Should I consider a Ctek 250 instead of the Victron as it is smaller and includes an MPPT. Is Ctek as quickly configurable as the Victron?
Most important is safety, so if any of this is madness, please let me know!
