Sounds like the microswitch. My problem re-occurred again after the aforementioned issue. I took it back & the dealer said that it was due to corrosion from condensation caused by us sleeping in the van. Long story short. I replaced the whole latch/switch assembly myself, and did find loads of corrosion around the switches. I blathered the new switches in protective wax & Sika’d a piece of insulation over the latch/switch assembly once it was fitted, effectively isolating the latch from the cabin. I also ran a piece of fishing line from the actuator to the bottom of the tailgate glass where the wiper motor sits, this gives me an emergency manual release if it happens again.4 years later, same power latching issue, also in the Alps.
The tailgate opens from the inside release switch, but nothing from the handle on the outside.
So far so good.
