Powered closing doors don’t close from internal handle nor fob

I have the following issue with the powered sliding doors on a Caravelle. Both dash door buttons are flashing. The doors power open and close correctly from dash buttons. I can also open the doors from the external handle but neither door will close from the door handle. The doors won't open or close from the key fob.

The fault code indicates an issue with the anti pinch system (02366) on both doors but the I've checked one of the pinch strips and it seems to be OK as it measures 1.255K ohms which I believe is correct.

I was under the impression that the doors were controlled from separate modules in the rear wings so I'm not sure why both doors have the same issue.

Also, how is door handle pull to close the door detected when the door is open as there is no obvious connections to the van when the door is open.

Any guidance would be apricated as I'm not sure where to go next with this.

Thanks
Phil

Sorry but can’t help you with this but you have now got me wondering how the handles work when the doors are open!

Bit more information on this. The doors will open from the key fob but not close. When the door open I hear a double relay click from the modules in the back, which I can't remember hearing in the past.

You can't open the doors from the dashboard buttons unless the ignition is on. Can't remember if this was the case before.

I have similar issues. My T6.1 n/s electric door will not operate from the dash / key fob / inner handle and outer handles. I can open it by holding the button down and switching on the ignition. I am guessing this points towards the door sender unit as all the mechanical components seem to work when I override the opening / closing on the ignition key. Does anyone know where the sender is located on the T6.1?
I found what I think is the correct sender unit 7LA 599 991. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you resolve the issue? I’ve not got to the bottom of the same problem with my sliders

Yes, My issue was that on both the side door the seal anti pinch strips had failed, error code (02366). I had originally discounted this as I had only replaced one of the seals only 18 months go (quality parts). If you think the pinch strip might be the problem you can check the seal by connecting a digital voltmeter across the connector of the disconnected seal, it should read c1250 ohms. You can also confirm by connecting a 1k and 200 ohms resistor connected in series across the contacts of van side of the connector when the seal is disconnected. If the door operates with the resistors connected across the connector then the seal has an issue.

I have narrowed it down to the door controller in the rear quarter behind the wheel arch! Swapped from opposite side now working perfectly. No sign of damage to the inoperative controller so I’ll have to buy a new one. What is so annoying with VW they are fully aware of the issues with powered sliding doors but offer zero assistance when out of warranty and still charge as much as they can for the part!

Update…… Stripped the defective part and it has suffered water ingress! Needless to say I think it is a very poor design without any form of water resistant seals!

Hi mate don't suppose you know the part number of that controller? I have the exact same issue on my van with the same door. And is it located in the little pocket above the wheel arch? I've had a quick look but could only seem to see a motor in mine.

Hi, This is the module that transmits to the receiver in the door. It is located with main door controller low down behind the rear wheel arch - secured with to bolts. You will to have it coded to the vehicles network.

Thank you very much for this info. Seems VW don't like sharing this, they've said they can look at it in May if I book it in with them.
Greatly appreciated. I'll be stripping it down this afternoon

Yes around £135 from TPS

VW refused to look at mine because the Van was carpet lined!
