Oh ace! I need to order that adaptor so we can use it when we can only use our USB plugs rather than sockets. Screen looks great too! Does it take up much space when packed away?

Hi
Can anybody advise on a van rechargeable projector that can have SkyGo & Netflix installed on it without the need for an additional plug in device
Campingcinema sell a couple but they use older android 7 software, whether thats because its the only software that allows it im not sure
Also they are only 720p resolution ,most are now 1080p

The new ones seem to need a licence agreement with the big players to allow them to play content .And they don't want to pay for it GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

Your away camping not watching bloody TV.

Seriously there are a few threads on this. We just use an ipad for streaming services.

I would like to get a mini projector for my van. Ideally it must be able to download apps so I can directly watch iPlayer, Disney+, etc without having to mirror screen. I like the look after the Anker Nebula Capsule, but there are so many different models that it is confusing. Any advice would be gratefully received.

I’ve done this. I took a while picking a projector as there seems to be various different specs that are quite similar. I decided to get one that could be charged by a power bank and it works really well. I also wanted one that had its own operating system so it doesn’t have to have something connected to it. I went with this one (though from a different seller) Projector and have been really impressed with it. It’s tiny. It’s not particularly loud but works great with a Bluetooth speaker.

I looked at mounts and in the end went with one for a small security camera as they seemed much smaller then the actual projector ones which all seemed to have a big drop.Mount

for the screen I just got a spare bit of curtain lining and used a plastic rod at the top and bottom with a couple of velcro straps to strap to the inside op the pop top (where the straps go to close it). It all works very well and can easily remove the projector and use at home too. The kids love it ...

I know this is a old post but just looking for a mini projector that I don’t need to connect a device too has its own running system did yours allow Amazon prime or channel 4 to be downloaded and save films to watch in the van ?

Having purchased a Nebula Capsule Max and screen at Busfest I finally got around to installing at the weekend.

At the show the projector was positioned on the vans worksurface which although worked (mainly because the Capsule max has good keystone capability) it wasn't ideal. The Capsule Max has an inbuilt speaker so having that in the middle of the van when watching video provided a better experience. So I decided to mount the projector to the bottom of the pop top bed. I also wanted to have a fixing that was stable and could be removed easily when the projector was not in use. I couldn't find anything that fitted the bill, there were a couple of options but it was important not to leave anything attached to the ceiling that was too big or had sharp edges. I ended up buying this mount from Sportouring.com. There are three elements. A ball mount that screws to the van ceiling, a ball mount with standard camera mount and a socket arm that connects the two and has a screw that locks the balls in place.

The first job is locate the right spot for fixing the mount. The Capsule Max has no zoom feature so its just a job of moving the projector forwards and back until the image fits the screen (mounted at the front of the pop top), then finding the centre point and screwing in the mount. The install took about 5 minutes.

I then covered the base with some spare fabric so its more stealthy when not in use.

Attached the mount

Connect the Capsule Max. Because of the two ball joint design its really simple to position the projector so its faces the screen at the right angle.

Even in bright sunshine the image is good enough and considering I'll only ever watch it later at night or when the weather prohibits being outside it's a great addition to the van.

I too have been investigating the world of projectors and it’s a bit of a minefield. The Capsule Max is the one I wanted to get. I was under the impression that all projectors had a zoom facility. They don’t!!! Because of where I want to mount mine, towards the back of the van, the Capsule Max would throw an image far too big for the screen. I now realise that I must have a device with zoom facility if I’m going to get this to work. The best option I think I’ve found is the Samsung Freestyle which has zoom.

My other concern is if the image would be bright enough. I’m a bit reluctant to splash out over £500 for a system which isn’t really practical.

I might have to go with plan A and mount a TV higher up

Anyone got. Samsung Freestyle set-up?

Agreed. I hunted around for a while. I wanted something with at least 200-ANSI-lumen, as you can see in my photos the image is plenty good enough to watch in daylight and I have white canvas sides to my pop top so that does let light in. At night its excellent and if it became an issue I'd just buy a rainbow screen pop top cover which would effectively act as a blackout curtain. The Max fits the bill but you are correct - no zoom. Fortunately I was able to have a good look at Busfest and decided that mounting in the roof was doable. Just also make sure that whatever you get has good keystone capability as that's essential given you cant always place the projector exactly where you want.

Hi, I know this is an old thread, but what are peoples experiences of projectors without breaking the bank.
I have seen some on amazon Amazon Projector which are a decent price - does anyone have one.

Any other advice - would love a nebula but the cost takes it out of my bracket

Try the cibest one, £62 ATM on Amazon, sometimes down to £53. Was impressed for the price.

That's a good deal. It has an inbuilt. Speaker but no Bluetooth. It does have a 3.5mm aux out socket so you can plug into an external speaker though

We’ve got the Anker Nebula Capsule Max. They have £80 off on their own Nebula site atm. It’s 720p, can save videos offline, has Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Sky Go, YouTubes apps. Can use as a Bluetooth speaker for music. Great for downloading videos to before going away. We have the tripod and use it to aim it at the poptop - we don’t bother with a screen and tripod avoids using a mount. View attachment 160661
Looks great! Where do put the Nebula? Is it on the side with the tripod? Just wondering if it has to be central. Thanks
