purchase advice

Hello, I am new to this forum and have the following question/advice request.

I want to buy a T6 with a DSG automatic gearbox.
I can buy a T6 with 200,000 km (204 hp), but with a new engine (installed by VW) with 70,000 km on it.
Is this a good offer, or is it better to buy one with its first engine.

In my price range, the mileage is between 105,000 and 200,000 km.
In your experience, better to pay more with less km or is a T6 with 200,000 km a great vehicle that you can drive for years to come.

I am going to convert the T6 into a camper, but it will also be my daily driver.
different versions to buy:
150 hp 104,000-132,00 km (25.000 euro)
204 hp 150,000 and 160,000 km (21.000 euro)
200,000 km with 199 hp (14.000)

Please your input

Nick

Just remember the golden rule;

The cheapest Transporters are usually the most expensive ones.

Stick with your parameters and go for as much service history as you can find. Like all used vehicles there is no guarantee for future unscheduled maintenance. Good luck!

Ask yourself why has the first van needed a new engine ?
The 150 hp would be my choice .
150 would be my choice too.

Percentage wise the number of 204s with large scale engine issues might be fairly small but it seems higher than other engines just going off the posts here. I don’t remember any thread about vans needing a new 150 engine.

Sure, any engine may have its problems but unless you need 204 why risk it when 150 is plenty for most people’s use case?

Deffo the one with the new engine.

The early 204s can have engine problems.

So if you've had a new engine... Your good to go.
