hello there im looking at purchasing a vw van for work and have found a t30 102ps startline with 41k on it for 14k i just wondering if this is worth the price or if its going to last as I've had terrible luck with my last two vehicles.

To be honest - I've driven a brand new102ps and it was really sluggish. Go with 110 and you'll smile when you drive it.
How old is the T6?
You might have to give more info if anyone is going to be able to give you a more accurate yay/nay.

It’s a 2017 model and tbh I’m not fussed if it feels pokey or what not just as long as it’s smooth and comfy and is gonna last if I take care of it. I would go with another brand but I’ve heard vw in terms of reliability they’re the best

When I bought my 2014 102 it had around 36k on it. It needed a new dual mass flywheel. Other than that it’s been reliable and I’m not sure if some of the DMF wear was down to the previous driver (on the test drive he wasn’t the smoothest!) or if it’s just a VW thing. TBF it may affect other models too?

Pulling off and keeping up with traffic isn’t an issue - it’s geared for carrying loads so first gear is low and gets it moving well. I think you are limited to 5 speed gearboxes with the 102 and that can add to the noise on long motorway trips but you can soundproof them. That would be my biggest gripe - the noise, but then my conversion has a few rattles and it all adds up.

I always think because the 102 is always working more than a 204 it has less issues. Diesels like to be worked hard to an extent.

Certainly wouldn’t think it’s less reliable for being a 102. Doesn’t get anywhere near as many posts on here for being problematic as the 204.

Lovely to hear thank you for the reply

There’s no guarantee it’s going to be reliable. I had a Range Rover Evoque after a mates gushing review and it was an absolute dog. Proper Friday car… Ended up being on first name terms with the dealership! Fortunately it was a company car.

But generally T6’s are reliable, still not as the old 1.9TDi T5’s, but they didn’t have modern emission requirements. Keep on top of maintenance, occasionally red line it down the motorway and you’ll be fine.

I would be slightly concerned with the low mileage though, as it’s just a van (not a camper that sits on the driveway through winter). I’m sure there’s a valid reason, but it’s worth trying to find out.

That calls into question the validity of any service history it might have if its been getting through to MOTs with faults like that. That's all gross neglect type stuff.

There's no shortage of them, I'd go find another.

Reg plate would be enough to put me off, it’s got an horrendous mot history for a short life. Headlight aiming too high would say it’s possibly it’s been in a bump also. Better buys out there than that.
