Re-map For Better Fuel Consumption?

Apologies if this is covered somewhere already... Is this possible? Worth it? Has anyone had any experience with it or know someone that has? I'm fairly new to the t6 so my current fuel consumption might be normal but it would be great if it was better!

It might help to get a better idea if you let us know what engine, DSG/Manual, and your current consumption? That way you can quickly ascertain if it's normal or not.

It's a T28 75kw 101bhp Manuel 5 speed gearbox startline. Current average is 46 mpg

46mpg! I dream of getting 46mpg!
I average about 34/35! 50/50 motorway driving and rural roads, sticking to 70 on motorway. Anything faster than 70 and I can hear the money draining from my bank account as I go along. I'm so gentle on the throttle you could put a raw egg between my foot and the pedal and it would never get cracked!

That's in an empty T32 Kombi manual 6 speed Euro 5, 140bhp remapped to 170 by Pendle.

ChrisR, did you get your van remapped or was it a previous owner, you might be able to tell us if if the remap had any impact on MPG?
I have a Euro 5 engine, 140hp, which I am thinking of getting remapped by Pendle.

Unfortunately I can't tell you the effect on MPG. I had the remap done by the supplier at the time I bought the van. I test drove a 140 kombi before I bought mine and drove it again immediately before collecting mine. It definitely made a difference to performance, but sorry, no info on MPG improvement.

Ah, OK, thanks. I'm reassured that it improved the performance, I don't want to drive like a hooligan but I'd like a bit more pull in the higher gears.

Most remaps will offer slight mpg improvements, mainly down the the increased performance resulting in the throttle not needing to be as open as wide for as long to get you up to your chosen speed. With increased performance comes the temptation to use it more often, which will result in using more fuel. So what few drops you'll save, you'll probably use up carrying out a brisk overtake.

You can make gains by changing your driving style, which is free. Having said that, if you are averaging a genuine 46mpg, that's pretty bloody good.

Having just got my new T6 on Monday I will be trying it out on a run tomorrow to see what it gets. I have used RaceChip before on my 530d and really noticed a difference in terms of performance flat spots eradicated and economy was improved. I plan to do this again for my T6 but welcome any other thoughts. My van is a 204 DSG 4motion LWB so figures stated suggest in 40's but we will see.

Pendle rem mapped 102bhp to 172bhp drives so much better and get over 40mpg on most runs outside of town driving

@Bentley T6, lots of reviews on remapping, but the most popular for the T6 are Revo and Pendle. Personally I went for Revo and i’m well chuffed with how it smooths out power delivery.
