Recommend me some wheels

Just a follow up on yesterday’s post about how I polished the diamond cut face of the alloys.
This is what they look like if you don’t wash the wheels for 2 or 3 months. This pic is AFTER they’ve been washed!
View attachment 267224Anyway, I’ve just given that wheel a quick wipe with 1500grit wet and dry (lubricated by the tears of a 56year old) and then 2 spokes had a quick polish with autosol and they are not far off being ok.

View attachment 267225Have to go out so I’ll post a pic of how a full wheel turns out later in the week.
This looks good! And although everyone is advising me not to buy the diamond-cut alloys I want, I am prepared for the maintenance costs that will inevitably come with it.
As long as I clean them once or twice a month and treat them with Poorboys's wheel sealant, it will slow down the delamination and extend the life before refurbishment, somewhat at least!

@IsaacS1 they have that exact Poorboy's sealant on them. It's good stuff, but I just think all the road salt and brake dust gets through if you leave them a few months. I think the issue with mine is that they have no coating. They are just bare polished alloy. I've had little marks before but they look grim at the mo. I reckon a couple of hours tomorrow will get them sorted. They are showing their age now elsewhere with stonchips and a bit of rash around the wheel nuts etc.

I like the Wolfrace alloys, I fancy the Assassin GT2, but I have heard several people talking about how the Wolfrace delaminates rather quickly and might need powder-coated after a few years, that's £400-£500 treatment, sounds a bit scary tbh.
I've just had my WR GTR Munichs replaced under warranty after 6 months, the lacquer was lifting and they started "worming"

They were diamond cut, which are prone to the above.

Replaced with WR Alutec, not as aesthetically pleasing on the eye. But, the wait time for the GTR Munich Carbon was ridiculous, considering I contacted WR back in July, they were quoting 4 months, this then just kept creeping up.

Can't fault their customer service though.

Agree, diamond cut are a pain. Had them on the car and soon looked shabby.
I can tell the diamond-cut debate is going to thrash on until the end of time :)
We all know it's a bad idea, we know they don't last, become expensive to maintain over time, & buying them goes against the advice handed down by many a wise car owner, but vanity is a powerful desire that clouds our savvy decision-making process.
I'm fighting my own battle here :p

Thing is they’re cheap enough to buy fresh in a couple of years for a fresh look.

OMG, I knew I joined the forum for a good reason, why spend £400 on a refurb in 2 years when I can buy new ones for £600!? Genius. Or is it justification? Who cares, it's my first camper, diamond-cut wheel it is. Thank you @Micktheplasterer, that was the comment I was looking for :D

Now all I have to do is spend a small fortune getting my front end lowered by 1 inch after the conversion, (or is it my rear raised 1 inch), and I'm home & dry.
