Pretty conclusive. Going to be expensive for the dealer to fix that. I’d suspect the only way forward is full crate engine, turbos and DPF. Basically everything that’s touched contaminated oil.
Well an update.
Just had a conversation and they wanted me to pay for turbos and dpf so I've said to just give me a refund. So now I'm on the hunt again. Think it will have to be transporter, but which is the best engine choice in people's opinion?

I looked at reconmyengine.com, told retro resus about it and said to be questionable of it as it costs them considerably more to recon an engine. Just going to take the refund and try again with a different vehicle.
Is anyone swapping to a 140/150 engine instead? Should be easy enough gotten in a breakers for a lot less money, but how much has to be changed with it?

Probably more than you’d imagine with so many components coded. The ECU for a start.
The 180 CFCA is a very sound engine providing the EGR issue is dealt with, that costs 142 Euro and an hour of your time.
