Renogy Inverter

I now have a Renogy 100Ah Lipo battery and 50A DC-DC charger to fit to my van. I'm thinking of adding a Renogy 1000w inverter to the system but the ones shown on the UK site don't have a RS485 comms. If I look at the Renogy inverters for other countries they all have a new version out with the RS485 comms but obviously with the different plug.

My battery and charger both have a RS485 comms which with the BT2 can connect to my phone app. If I go for an existing UK Renogy inverter without a coms link, am I missing out anything important?

I've sent Renogy a question if they will release a UK inverter with RS485 but I haven't had a reply.

Following this to see the response, but also to ask if you will take a picture of the location when you have all this mounted please.

Thank yo u

no, the 1-3k Renogy inverters dont have any remote comms.

just the remote on/off switch ( via rj45)

no biggy - if you have the reogu battery and dc50s dc-dc you will have some good monitoring . . . enough to see what the inverter is doing.

Renogy have replied. The only inverter with a RS485 link is in the US and that is only 110v and has no UPS function. They don't know if the RS485 link will be available on UK inverters.
It's the same when you look at MPPT parts. The German and US have a RS485 link but it seams to have been removed from the UK but I know others on here have brought them.

I'm ordering a 1000w inverter today from them :)

i have the 1000w and the 2000w versions.

they are great.

1000w version in the van at the mo. . .

and the 2000w is being built into the new 2000w battery box . .

the other inverters i have that are worth looking into are:

All @Dellmassive tested and approved.

Victron 375w, 800w, 1200w
COTEK 250w, 700w, 1000w, 1500w
Renogy 100w,2000w

++++

Dell - Do you have your hook up cable powering the 1000w inverter? I understand it can be used as a UPS device too.

yes it can, and no i dont.

i havent got any EHU installed in the van yet.

so im 100% off grid.

but with a 230Ah lithium . . . . who needs EHU anyway lol. - Roamer LiFePO4 Gen2 230Ah Seatbase battery -- "How I Done It" --

Re Renogy inverter EHU,

its not a charger, but will work as a transfer switch.

so EHU will pass through tpo the van when on EHU,

but will switch over to inverter mode when no EHU.

it does this via an internal switching relay

Hi all, can anyone help? I have just installed a Renogy 2000w inverter - 1st test with a small kettle, I get the audible alarm and while monitoring the hppt charger it reports that the battery capacity tanks as low as 40% ( I don’t believe this because it’s back at 100 within minutes - I have 1 100w solar panel to hppt and inverter connected to 2 120ah batteries Renogy trouble shooting says cables too long but they are 200mm and next to the battery/ positive on one negative on the other
Thanks for any pointers

What size cables are you using and what’s the power rating if the kettle.

My cables are 80cm long and with a 1000w inverter I can run a 800w kettle or a 900w cement mixer ok.

Are you able to measure the amps it pulling?

Volt drop under load.

Cables Insufficient or battery's to0 weak.?

Post some pics and screenshots.

A 2kw inverter will pull 200A plus..... That's a lot of power for twin AGMs.

Just cleaning a new Russell Hobbs 1kw 0.85 litre travel kettle and that pulls 87A at 12.6V according to the battery shunt display.
This is via the Renogy 1,000 watt inverter and did pull the cooling fan in on the second boil, like Lee we've got the Roamer seatbase beast!

Thanks for the reply, I think the Kettle is a problem, its a russel Hobs fancy thing and teh label is worn but I can see 3 0's after the wattage ! - I need to buy a little travel Kettle anyway, the Cables are 30cm from Battery to inverter and are 10mm

Thanks, I will do a couple of tests this evening and post on here with screen shots, I think the kettle was an issue so I will try again, do you think the 2kw inverter is TOO big for the bettery setup ? TBH I went 2Kw over 1Kw to future proof the setup, at some point I will swap put for Lithium so will be able to add more power

Our Russell Hobbs travel kettle was £20 from Argos last Sunday and a bit of an impulse buy:laugh: however it boils just under a litre of water in about twice the time of our normal 3kw house kettle so a decent buy and more importantly can be powered from the Renogy 1kw inverter.
From memory the 1kw Renogy was about £135 in Feb, not dirt cheap but cheap enough to get one and keep the 2kw to one side until you can go lifePO4 and back to 2kw, the 1kw inverter will sell on here easily enough as it's a great piece of kit.

While you can use a UK Renogy 1000W inverter without RS485 for your van setup, you'll miss out on remote monitoring and control via your phone app (possible with your battery and charger's RS485 and BT2). Consider waiting for a UK RS485 version from Renogy, exploring other inverter brands with RS485 in the UK, or proceeding with the UK model if remote control isn't crucial.

I've been keeping an eye on the new version...... No idea when it will make a UK appearance though.
