I need to add two connextions in my BCM, pin 10 and pin 63. I ordered 4.8mcp terminals, but they are too large for the pin 10 slot and too small for the pin 63 slot. Can anyone twll me what size I need for these?

Hello everyone,

(Tried searching but couldn't find the exact answer - sorry if it's already documented somewhere - please point me to it).

Can anyone confirm the correct crimp size to add a pin 3 connection in the black connector on the BCM plug please?
I ordered and tried 000979009E, but these are far too small for pin 3.

Many thanks.

this is all available numbers

000 979 009E
000 979 025E
000 979 026E

000 979 027E
000 979 044EA
000 979 150E
000 979 151E

If 009 is too small, should be
000 979 025E for 2.8mm wire
or
000 979 150E for 1.5mm wire

Hi,
Thanks for the information.
It wasn't the wire size that was too small. The crimp I ordered (009) was not retained in the plastic housing - the body of the metal crimp was too small for the housing and the pin in position three on the BCM was too large for the 009 crimp connector.

Is the 025E and 150E a bigger crimp body as well as accepting larger wire do you know please?

Kind regards,

000 979 025E for 2.8mm wire - so can handle for example up to 20A
000 979 150E for 1.5mm wire - so can handle up to 5A

both this same size , only for different wires

simple google them, and compare with existing you have in near hole

Send me a pm with your address and i will stick a couple in the post today

Just to clarify its this size i am looking at

Hi Pauly,
Yes, that's the correct one.
(It's actually pin 3 on the black connector (engine running signal) I am trying to use, but that is the correct size one you have highlighted on the white connector).

Very many thanks for the kind offer to post a couple. I'm more than happy to pay you for the crimps and postage if you want. I'll send a PM now.

Kind regards,

@Pauly do you know what the pin part number is for the bcm black connector pin 3?
I want to cross-reference against other VW models as there is a car breakers yard near me but all the connectors/pins I got today are the wrong size....

There is no part number for crimps as VW don’t sell them anymore, you can only buy repair wires now
Without looking it up I’m guessing pin 3 is the smallest connector so the crimp is the square type

From post #1 the 000979009E were too small for pin 3, I think they may be for the tiny connections running either side of the centre.
Can you depin a matching connector and take a picture of the terminal?
Do they look like any on here.. 1.32£ 19% OFF|50 Pcs 2.8/3.5 MM Crimp Terminal Auto Electrical Male Female Wire Splice Pins For FCI/TE/Tyco/AMP/Boschs Car Connector|Terminals| - AliExpress
If nobody has the pin details I'll depin and get the pin dimensions.

I am almost 100% sure that these are what I ordered when I did a T5 some years back and used the same on my current T6.

Part number 000 979 131E

Pins are from TE MQS range or MCP range. You can order them from RS, but the crimping tool is £300+, which is probably why VW only sell crimped wires.

Hi everybody

I'm looking for some advice on where to get a few of each type of terminal / pin / socket (maybe as a 5 of everything type set) and how to tell the terminals apart.

My local dealer has just charged me £13 for a single repair wire with a terminal crimped on each end. Its in a bag with 000 979 038 EA on the sticker. When I search for that part number on Aliexpress.com I get offered rakes of different part numbers, all with the standard '1-3 cm tolerance' because manual measurement.

Many of these different part numbers look similar (or identical) so I'm hoping that someone might be able to give a bit of a guide to which ones are suitable replacements for standard VW part numbers and which ones are not worth the trouble to get shipped from China.

The two terminals I am currently looking for are:
  • 000 979 041 E which is described as '6C3F wire set' on the invoice. This one goes in the door loom connector for the electric mirror.
  • 000 979 038 EA which is cryptically described as 'WIRES' on the invoice. This is the female pin for the plug on the end of the mirror loom which mates with the male pin above.
Searching on Aliexpress.com for these part numbers I find loads of options, but none of them have the 'correct' part numbers. It becomes a self disrupting experience because the search falls back to showing more of whatever it previously offered the longer you look - i.e. the more times it shows me its best 'endeavours' the more those specific things will show up in searches where there isn't an good match. Go searching for Anderson plugs and then when you start to search for VW part numbers it fills the screen with Anderson plug related items and items with different part numbers.

I'd like to have a good selection of everything I might need but I'm flailing around here. Does anyone have good information on these things and where to get them outside of the VW dealer network? - £13 on Aliexpress could get me a few hundred terminals with 2wk shipping to the UK!

Thanks

D
