I'm looking to replace the 12V cigarette port in my T6 with a dual USB charging point.
Has anyone done the same and is it pretty straight forward?
Thanks in advance
Yes I was swaying between taking the 12V cigarette port out all together and wiring in a new dedicated USB charger or one that slots in flush.
Anyone done a complete swap?
earthed from original 12v socket wiring but with a fuse piggy back as I wanted it to be ignition switchable. The USB module is located on top of the center fuse box (picture shows 2):
This ensures no issue with DAB signal inteferance which is common with USB converters (especially the smaller, cheaper ones).
Have had no problems with this at all, biggest issue was removing the 12v socket but doable with care and patience.

Uses more battery(more parasitic drain) when not in use, you can remove the adapter the permanent onces like the Deep Blue Sea dual USB socket, you cant.

Be careful removing the 12v socket. From memory the metal sleeve has to be removed before the body will easily depart from the dash and you will need to remove the vent.
It's fiddly and worth doing a bit of googling together with real thing reconnaissance... not impossible by any means and I reused mine running off a leisure battery in the back
I keep looking at dual usb's to swap mine out. Its hard to find any that are fast charge and do not have any cheesy led lights buit in. just a plain usb charger will do please ha ha. only ones i have found so far are the blue sea ones priced at £40!
