Replacing Radiator.

I'm sure that particular pigeon won't be troubling the rest of us, many thanks for eliminating it! ;)

Hi,

After waiting 3 weeks for an appointment at the main dealers to investigate a coolant leak (hoping whatever was wrong was covered by all-in warranty) I had word late today that it's a leak in what they described as the front radiator from a stone.

So no warranty cover and they have kindly left me hanging until Monday when they have promised to come back with a price.

Having a quick glance at some of the diagrams on the forum I assume they mean the smaller lower front radiator for the charge air cooling circuit. Can anyone confirm a part no for this?

Would like to get a none main stealer price before I proceed with the work to see how much over then odds they are going to try milk me more.

Anyone has this job done or have an idea of cost? I have no idea if it's a £300 job or 1k+

Cheers

Luke

I’ve not done it myself but @rod_vw has:

I did it on a T5 a couple of years back, not too much of a drama although there are a couple of bolts that are difficult to get to. Be aware that you will have extra radiators mounted in front of the coolant one for air-con, power steering (just a tube) and intercooler.
A second pair of hands are useful to handle the front bumper assembly when it's loose as it's a bit wide and bulky but not heavy. Don't forget to disconnect front parking sensors if you have them.

There are full workshop manuals available here https://cardiagn.com/volkswagen-transporter-2016-2020-workshop-manuals-wiring-diagrams/

Lots of words about special tools but I never needed any - however the diagrams are helpful.
