Retrofit heated rear window.

Body Control Module. This is under the dash on the drivers side and can be quite fiddly to access. If you are not used to dealing with these sort of electrics it can be quite daunting pulling it all apart. The wiring diagrams are all available on here if you have VIP membership. If you are planning on doing a fair few mods to your van, it is an invaluable resource. I have added loads of bits to my T6 Startline thanks to this and it now probably rivals some highline spec vans!
Ah ok. Sounds like it’s worth going for then. Thanks

As per the factory wiring diagrams it is 2.5mm2. You need a red with yellow trace going from fuse SC6 to pin 67 of the white plug on the BCM and a white going from pin 63 of the white plug of the BCM to the tailgate loom pin 17 of connector T17o via T17m in the left hand a pillar under the dash. You will then also need a brown going from pin 16 of the connector T17o down to the earth point in the rear quarter. If you have got the button fitted in the controller for the heated rear screen all you will need to do is put a fuse in position SC6 and then code it all and you should be good to go.
Do you know the SC6 fuse rating? I am assuming it’s a blade fuse? I’ve now related your description to the wiring diagram, I think it makes sense. Now to do it!

Hi matey. The control wiring is CAN and is already at the panel. The blank on your unit is removable, you only need to replace the switch blank for one with the heated screen icon. Yey! You may think, but you can't buy the switch on its own (Booooo!!).
That said it does mean you could try and find a damaged or faulty unit and just pop the switch out.
The same control panel comes in Caddy's and Passats, and some other vag group. I found any advertised for sale as being T6 had a considerable increase in asking price, so look for one from another model to save same money.

I found a caddy one on FB Marketplace for £10 and just took the switch out and replaced the blank on my standsrd unit.

Wiring, you will need to run a 2.5mm wire from the BCM to the tailgate for power and another 2.5mm wire from the ground point tucked in the rear left/nearside D pillar to the tailgate.

Once thats done you will need to alter the coding of the BCM to let it know it now has a heated rear screen. That will activate it and your done.

Hi
My rear heated switch doesn’t light up(everything else works).
OBDeleven gives the “rear defogger error”
Can I just pop it out, or is there a fuse I could check(if so where would it be situated).
Regards

It’s the same as the A/C & Recirculating switches, except it doesn’t light up or feel like the others when pressed.
It doesn’t press in like the A/C, & Recirculating. Hope you understand.

The rear screen is definitely a heated screen , so the wiring should already be installed.

Hi, I had a blank in place it had no light or symbol on it, i replaced it with the button / switch in your picture it has a symbol of a heater on it and a small light, just pop blank out and insert button/ switch. The light comes on and off when pressing the button /switch in or out
Cheers 😀

Found the problem.
There are two little rubber things that are pushed in when the switch is pressed.
One of them doesn’t line up . Is like the rubber has dropped out of position.
Have tried to move it with tiny screw driver , but it ain’t moving.
Can the controls unit be removed, or does it mean removing the dash?

Picking up a 2018 T6 with tailgate next week. Wanting to fit rear window and looking at fitting one with the heating elements. I'm presuming that there'll be no wires already running from the dash to tailgate?
And I can't find retrofit switches anywhere to replace the blank, only a complete heater control. So my question is can you fit just the switch and have an auto electrician run the wires? Or am I forced into buying a complete new heater control just to obtain the switch? View attachment 261700
Hey , Could you let me know where you found a rear window with heated elements? I want to do same!

Master Auto Glass - only £132. Top Tip - Make sure you purchase the J trim and NOT the U trim, as there’s not a lot of a lip remaining once you cut the panel away. The J trim is shorter on the outside so you have more room to apply the silicon and it therefore won’t protrude below the edge of the glass.

You should just be able to pull the surrounding plastic away to reveal screws that hold the unit in place.

I presume you initially checked the fuse?
