Retrofit T6 Tailgate to T5.1

Hi all,

Apologies if this has already been covered but I have searched the forum and cannot find the information I am looking for.

I am about to convert a 2013 T5 from barn doors to tailgate. The tailgate is from a sportline and has the electric handle. I understand two extra wires are needed for the release and open.

Can anyone help with the following,
Part numbers for terminals at loom connection and BCM?
Which terminal at rear plug and BCM should be connected?
Coding for tailgate in BCM?

Thank you in advance.
Phill

Having recently completed a 100% facelift conversation one problem remains the tailgate handle and central locking. I have the cables from a 2013 and wondered if anybody had any experience of changing the pins to make the lock work. Thanks guys!

I am thinking about converting my T5.1 62 plate to a T6/6.1 tailgate. Is it a pain in the arse to get the electric boot release handle working or pretty straight forward?. Also how about the factory T6.1 LED rear lights?

It ended up being a lot easier than I thought. Needed to retain the original 5.1 tailgate loom and from memory, swapped one connector over for the internal release. I think I may have got lucky.

6.1 lights fairly easy but you need to swap a couple of connectors round in the plug. Not a major job at all. There was a little coding to do, but what I never fully managed to get rid of was the brake light warning light that would come on when the brakes were used. Mine (2010, older BCM) just didn’t want to give up that little fault.

Can’t help any further as I no longer have the van I’m afraid!

Hi I am also attempting the T6 tailgate conversion. The lights were easy and I just got the earth in place then worked out each light with a multi meter while someone operate each light independently. But I’m also a little lost on the locking mechanism. Does someone have a clear diagram for the two wires that run to the BCM as it seems a lot people suggest this but there isn’t really anyone who has a definitive answer or diagram. Thanks everyone any help would be really appreciated!
