Reversing Camera vendor.

I bought a genuine T6 reverse camera for my tailgate, second hand from a breakers yard. @Eddcameron at Volksfit then supplied cabling, fitted camera and coded it in to head unit. He did a superb job, highly recommended.

Patch, this maybe a stupid question but are the camera and loom the same for all T6’s?

Don’t know is my honest answer. I had a Highline van which already had rear parking sensors but Volksfit still had to run another cable from rear camera all the way to the front head/radio unit. There wasn’t a cable already on the my Highline standard loom if that what you are thinking. Hope that helps.

I had my camera fitted a couple of months ago. I bought the kit but was having the van lined etc so had the garage do it while they had all the panelling off. I also wasn’t confident with cutting the hole which is needed between the two number plate lights (which i think answers your first question).
If you go into the menu on your head unit you should be able to get the version to display. Once you have that it is fairly easy to check if it will support the camera. My understanding is all but the entry level unit do. I have a composition colour which does. If the head unit does support the camera, it is a plug and play but does require coding which needs VCDS.

I bought my kit from:
Service was good and the parts are all OEM. It is literally a camera with some pigtails and a wiring loom.

Below is a picture of the menu where it shows the Part number. If you look at the link above you’ll see it highlights which one is not supported. You can also send them your VIN and they will confirm what you are buying is compatible.

If you don’t already know there are two versions of the camera. One has static guide lines, the other has dynamic ones which move with the steering. I went with the static ones but having driven a van with the dynamic ones, I would probably go that way in future.

Hope this is useful.

Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to reply, very informative information indeed.
Big.mac, my head unit device part number is 5C0035680G so I’m presuming that the camera you included in your link is compatible.
I’ve sent the VIN and the device number to them so I’ll see what comes back. You said about having the bending reverse lines, I presume the linked one is that and not the fixed line camera?

Thanks again to all.

The link I sent is for the fixed line camera. The dynamic version is much more expensive and seems to have an extra module. I diodn’t do any research on this one I’m afraid.
